Titi's new baby! Chu Thao is a grandpa!

Titi and her husband Nick had their first child on Tuesday, November 14th. He is a healthy baby boy, weighing 7 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 21 1/2 inches. The proud parents named him Ross Duc Gallo.

I am very happy to be a grandpa (ong ngoai) for the first time!

Titi writes: "Ross was Nick's grandfather's name and I wanted a Vietnamese name for our baby's middle name. I always like the story of my mother's father naming 3 of his children, including my mother, who were born around WWII after Germany, Russia, and the US in the hopes for world peace. But since Nga is not an appropriate name for a boy and I always admired Uncle Duc's equanimity, we decided on Duc for Ross's middle name."

About the middle name "Duc": DUC in Vietnamese means Germany, but it also means virture, good heart, good quality (duc tanh, duc hieu, nguoi co duc...) So I think Titi really did pick a very wonderful name and I am so proud of her. As Titi so eloquently explains the choice above, choosing "Duc" to revive her grandfather's desire for World Peace, I do want to praise her for the thought.

I will send/post pictures as soon as I get a chance.
